Set defaults for new assignments and classes
Open Settings > Teaching, then find Assignment defaults and Classroom defaults. These settings reduce repeated setup without taking control away from each new assignment or class.
Set the starting assignment choices
Section titled “Set the starting assignment choices”Choose:
- Revision policy: whether new assignments begin by allowing revisions after feedback or as one-shot submissions.
- Grading scale: whether rubric scores begin with a traditional or standards-based interpretation.
- Late-penalty policy: the starting policy for work submitted after the due date. When Per day is selected, set the daily deduction and maximum total deduction.
You can change these choices while creating an individual assignment. Updating the account default never rewrites an assignment that already exists.
Set the starting classroom celebration level
Section titled “Set the starting classroom celebration level”Choose Standard or Minimal celebration intensity. New and imported classes begin with this value, and each class can later use its own setting. Existing classes keep what they already saved.
These defaults save immediately when selected.
