Accept a teaching-team invitation

A teaching-team invitation gives a teacher access to one class as either a co-teacher or an assistant. The invitation page names the class, the person who invited you, and the role you will receive.

  1. Open the invitation link from the email.
  2. Review the class and role on the invitation page.
  3. If you are already signed in with a teacher account, select Accept and join.
  4. If you are signed out, select Log in or Create your teacher account. Rectangle returns you to the invitation after authentication.
Review the named class and role before selecting Accept and join. The invitation link itself grants access, so keep it private. Select the image to enlarge it.

After acceptance, Rectangle opens the class home and adds the class to your Classes area. If you are already on the teaching team, opening the invitation takes you to the class instead of adding you again.

An invitation is valid for 14 days. Ask the class owner to resend it when the page says that the invitation is expired. A resent invitation uses a new link, and the previous link no longer works.

Expired invitations cannot be accepted. Ask the named teacher to resend the invitation and use the replacement link. Select the image to enlarge it.

The invitation cannot be accepted when it has been revoked, has already been used by someone else, or belongs to an archived class. Ask the class owner for a new invitation or to unarchive the class as appropriate.

If you opened the link with a student account, sign out and open it again with a teacher account. Accepting an invitation never transfers class ownership.

The invitation link is not locked to the email address where it was sent. Any eligible teacher account that holds the link can accept it. Do not forward or post the link; ask the class owner to send a separate invitation to each person.
