Stage or start the assignment

Chapter 4 · Lesson 3

Stage or start the assignment

Move the assignment beyond Draft and understand exactly when students can enter the project.

Draft work is not visible to students. Stage the assignment when it should open at a planned time, or Start it when students should be able to enter now.

Select Stage for launch, review the go-live date and student-visibility explanation, then confirm.

The resulting Staged assignment is visible to students as upcoming but cannot be opened. It starts automatically on schedule unless you start it early or return it to Draft.

Select Start project when students should receive access today. Rectangle explains that the assignment moves to Active and the schedule replans from today using the saved milestone lengths.

Read the confirmation before committing either transition. Reaching Staged or Active is this guide’s first-success threshold.

Staging makes the assignment visible as upcoming but keeps the work closed until the go-live date. Standards warnings do not block launch. Select the image to enlarge it.
