Publish, curve, or export assignment grades

Focus one milestone in Grades before publishing, curving, or exporting. Rectangle keeps these actions explicit so a draft calculation is not mistaken for a student-visible result.

Grades is the compact assignment gradebook. Focus a milestone to grade, inspect, curve, export, or publish while the full project record stays visible across columns. Select the image to enlarge it.

Select Curve for the focused milestone.

Curve only the focused milestone’s draft grades. Preview first; the curve can be removed before publishing, but published grades are already visible to students. Select the image to enlarge it.

Choose a strategy:

  • Add points shifts eligible draft scores by a fixed amount.
  • Scale top to 100 scales from the highest eligible score.
  • Minimum floor raises eligible scores below the floor.

Review the Preview before selecting Apply curve. The curve affects only the focused milestone’s draft grades. You can remove it before publishing; already published grades are visible to students and require deliberate follow-up rather than a hidden undo.

Select the publish action for the focused milestone.

Publish sends only the named draft grades for the focused milestone. Rectangle lists who is included and why other teams are excluded before anything becomes visible. Select the image to enlarge it.

The confirmation names how many grades will publish, who is included, and why other teams or students are not included. Review any standards note, then select Publish. Published grades and feedback become visible immediately.

Select Export.

Choose published only for the gradebook of record or everything for an internal file that clearly marks drafts. Google Classroom passback is not yet available from Assign. Select the image to enlarge it.
  • Download CSV — published only for a file that represents student-visible results.
  • Download CSV — everything for an internal file that includes clearly marked drafts.

Sync to Google Classroom is visible as coming soon in Assign and is not a working action here. Use Assess for the current Google Classroom grade-passback workflow.
