Manage your Google Classroom connection
Google Classroom import and sync use a connection stored with your Rectangle account. Manage that connection in Settings → Integrations without deleting the classes it already created.
Check the connection from a class
Section titled “Check the connection from a class”- Select Classes and open an imported class.
- Stay on Roster.
- Open Roster source.
The panel shows the provider course, the account that owns the connection, and the last sync time. An owner or co-teacher can select Sync now. Select Manage in Settings when the Google account needs to be connected, reconnected, or disconnected.
Connect Google Classroom
Section titled “Connect Google Classroom”- Open Settings.
- Open Integrations.
- Find Google Classroom.
- Select Connect.
- Complete Google’s permission flow with the account that manages your courses.
- Return to Rectangle and confirm that the integration shows Connected.
The connected state shows the Google account and how many active classes use it for syncing.
Reconnect when permission expires
Section titled “Reconnect when permission expires”When the integration shows Needs reconnect, select the reconnect action and complete Google’s flow again. Imported classes and their history stay in Rectangle while the connection is unavailable; they simply cannot refresh from Google until access is restored.
Rectangle may ask for an additional Google permission when you first use a feature that needs it. Complete that request from the feature that prompted it rather than disconnecting the entire integration.
Disconnect Google Classroom
Section titled “Disconnect Google Classroom”- In Settings → Integrations, find the connected Google Classroom account.
- Select Disconnect.
- Read the consequences in the confirmation.
- Confirm only when you want Rectangle’s Google access removed.
Disconnecting does not delete imported classes, students, submissions, grades, or history. The existing classes remain in Rectangle and become manually managed. They will not receive Google roster changes until a suitable connection is restored.
Disconnect is not the right recovery for one failed import or one student mismatch. Retry that task or reconnect only when Rectangle specifically says the connection needs attention.
Understand connection ownership
Section titled “Understand connection ownership”The roster-source panel names the account whose connection backs the class. Rectangle does not currently offer a control there to transfer the class to another teacher’s connection. If the named account cannot be restored, contact Rectangle support before making a replacement plan.
Microsoft Education appears in Integrations as Coming Soon. It cannot connect or import rosters yet.
