Review student join requests
Students who use a class join code wait for an owner or co-teacher to approve them. Rectangle keeps these requests above the active roster so they cannot be mistaken for students already in the class.
Open the requests
Section titled “Open the requests”- Select Classes and open the class.
- Stay on Roster.
- Find the pending-request line above the roster.
- Select Review.
Rectangle can also email the class owner a daily summary when new requests are waiting. Open the class from that message and review the names in the roster before deciding.
Approve or decline a request
Section titled “Approve or decline a request”For an ordinary request:
- Check the student’s name.
- Review any class-team caution shown with the request.
- Select Approve to add the student to the active roster, or Decline to refuse the request.
Requests are decided one at a time. There is no bulk approval, because the teacher should check each identity before granting class access.
Resolve a possible match
Section titled “Resolve a possible match”Rectangle may suggest that a request belongs to a student already added without email. It makes suggestions only from this class, and the teacher makes the final decision.
When a possible match appears, choose:
- Approve and connect when both names belong to the same student. The student’s real account takes over the existing roster spot.
- Approve as new when they are different people. Both students remain on the roster.
- Decline when the requester should not enter the class.
Rectangle deliberately makes cautious suggestions, so a real match may not always be offered. Do not treat the absence of a suggestion as proof that the student is new.
When the existing spot has work
Section titled “When the existing spot has work”If the possible matching roster spot already owns work, Rectangle does not offer Approve and connect. This prevents a connection from deleting or moving the wrong student’s history. Approve the requester as new or decline the request, then review the two student records separately.
A similar caution appears when a returning student still belongs to an active project team. Read the named team and project before approving or declining; Rectangle keeps the existing team work intact.
If the student needs to try again
Section titled “If the student needs to try again”A declined or formerly removed student can submit a new request with a currently active code. Review the new request normally. If the code has expired, reached its limit, or been deactivated, create and share a replacement.
Assistants can see roster facts but cannot decide requests. Archived classes do not accept new join-code requests.
