Build and reorder milestones
Milestones turn the project promise into an ordered path students can follow. Each one should represent a meaningful stage of thinking and making, not simply a block of calendar time.
Add and select milestones
Section titled “Add and select milestones”Open Milestones from the Authoring tabs. Select an existing milestone card to edit it, or use Add a milestone to create another stage.
For each milestone, write:
- a short title students can recognize;
- a description of the work and purpose;
- a credible duration; and
- the deliverables and content standards that belong to this stage.
Put the stages in order
Section titled “Put the stages in order”Drag milestone cards to rearrange the arc. The numbered order updates with the list and becomes the sequence used in Reading View and the published project.
Use the sequence to make dependencies visible: early milestones should create the knowledge or evidence later milestones need. Avoid placing a polished public product before students have gathered, interpreted, and tested the evidence behind it.
Delete carefully
Section titled “Delete carefully”Delete a milestone only when its work no longer belongs in the project. Its attached deliverables and standards belong to that milestone, so move or recreate anything you still need before confirming removal.
Check the whole arc
Section titled “Check the whole arc”The left-side cards summarize title, duration, deliverables, and standards while the selected editor shows the details. Before leaving, scan all cards for empty stages, abrupt jumps, and durations that no longer match the overall project estimate.
