Read the assignment Gradebook
The Active Grades tab is the compact gradebook for one assignment. It shows grade state by milestone, class averages, and the doorways into light or full grading.
Read the grid
Section titled “Read the grid”Select a milestone to focus the grading controls on that column. Grade cells distinguish teacher-only drafts from published results. Class averages use published grades rather than treating unfinished drafts as student-visible results.
Use the row or cell action to continue grading. Use Open full grading when the work needs controls beyond the light Grade Sheet.
Expand a team
Section titled “Expand a team”For a team assignment, expand the team row to inspect its members.
The member rows show how the shared team grade and any member adjustment appear in the same grade record used by the Grade Sheet and full grader. Do not create a second score to compensate for an adjustment already represented here.
Read an individual assignment
Section titled “Read an individual assignment”Individual assignments keep the same milestone columns and grade-state language, but each row is a student rather than a team.
Use search on a larger roster to find a student. Scrolling may load more rows while keeping the milestone columns stable.
Choose the next task
Section titled “Choose the next task”- Use the Grade Sheet to score or publish one result.
- Use Publish for the focused milestone’s eligible draft grades.
- Use Curve to preview a change to draft grades for the focused milestone.
- Use Export to download published-only or all-grade CSV.
Google Classroom grade passback is not an enabled Assign action. Use the live passback surface in Assess when that workflow applies.
