Re-plan an active assignment

Re-plan from Timeline when an Active milestone needs more or less time. Rectangle proposes the complete downstream cascade first; it does not silently move the schedule as soon as you drag or choose a date.

Timeline separates work pace from calendar dates. The pace strip shows where teams are in the project structure; the calendar shows when the plan expects each milestone. Select the image to enlarge it.

Drag a milestone edge on the calendar, or select Adjust on the milestone when direct date entry is easier.

Use Adjust dates when dragging is not convenient. Set the milestone’s new end date, then review the downstream schedule before applying anything. Select the image to enlarge it.
  1. Choose the milestone.
  2. Set its New end date.
  3. Select Review changes.

Cancel if you opened the wrong milestone. No plan changes are applied at this step.

Review the full cascade before applying. Rectangle names shifts, pinned holds, gaps, or overlaps so the schedule change is explicit rather than silent. Select the image to enlarge it.

The Re-plan review names how the changed milestone and every later milestone will move. Check for:

  • ordinary downstream shifts;
  • pinned dates that must hold;
  • gaps created before a pinned milestone;
  • overlaps or other conflicts that need correction.

Select Apply new plan only when the complete result is right. Cancel returns to the unchanged schedule.

Release a pin that no longer represents a real constraint, or choose a boundary that does not create an invalid overlap. If Rectangle reports a stale change from another tab, refresh the assignment, review the current schedule, and propose the change again.

Re-planning changes dates, not student submission history. Use Project when milestone content needs to change.
