Start a rubric criterion from a pattern
Use a criterion Craft Pattern when you want an editor-reviewed evidence lens and four observable levels without writing the structure from zero.
Adopt a criterion
Section titled “Adopt a criterion”- Open Rubric.
- Review the available criteria in Craft Patterns.
- Select the pattern whose evidence fits this project.
- Add it to the rubric, then select its card to inspect the complete levels.
The adopted criterion is copied into your project. It keeps a From Craft Patterns provenance label so you can recognize its origin.
Customize without losing provenance
Section titled “Customize without losing provenance”Edit the name, description, weight, levels, or attached practice and habit standards when the project context requires it. Rectangle may show Customized when the current standard mapping differs from the adopted pattern.
Customization does not alter the canonical pattern and does not erase where the criterion began. Later changes to the canonical pattern do not silently rewrite the criterion already in your draft.
Keep only criteria that matter
Section titled “Keep only criteria that matter”A strong rubric is smaller than a list of every desirable student behavior. Combine overlapping evidence lenses, remove criteria that no longer shape decisions, and confirm that the remaining weights total 100%.
