Build the assignment schedule

Use the Draft or Staged Schedule tab to set when the project begins and how long each milestone lasts. Rectangle derives the milestone date ranges from those choices so the calendar and due dates stay together.

Set the assignment start and each milestone’s length. Rectangle computes school-day dates, skipping weekends and configured breaks. Select the image to enlarge it.
  1. Open the assignment.
  2. Select Schedule.
  3. Set Project starts to the intended date.

The schedule uses the assignment’s school-day and weekend-delivery settings. Milestone dates recalculate from the start and each milestone’s length.

  1. Expand the milestone.
  2. Set its length in weeks or school days.
  3. Review the resulting date range before moving to the next milestone.
Expand a milestone to set its length in weeks or school days. Use Edit contents in Project when the milestone’s instructional content—not only its timing—needs to change. Select the image to enlarge it.

Use Edit contents in Project when the milestone’s instructional content needs to change. Schedule controls change timing, not the milestone description or deliverables.

You can pin a milestone boundary to an exact date when an external event, presentation, or deadline must not move. Pinned dates constrain later recalculation. Return the boundary to automatic scheduling when that constraint no longer applies.

If the schedule produces a gap or overlap, review the highlighted consequence and adjust the milestone length or pin. During an Active run, use Timeline → Adjust dates instead; Rectangle previews the entire downstream cascade and applies it only after you confirm.

Return to Overview and expand Launch readiness. Every milestone that needs a length should now be marked as set. A schedule blocker must be resolved before the assignment can be staged or started.
