Mark a project ready, publish it, or unpublish it

Rectangle separates private development, classroom use, and public sharing into three explicit project states.

Review quality and the exact public preview before changing lifecycle state. Ready keeps the project private to classroom use; Publish makes the project available from the library. Select the image to enlarge it.

Draft is private working state. You can continue editing, share a read-only preview, or move the project forward after the structural requirements are satisfied.

  • Choose Ready for my classroom when you want to use the project with your own classes without making it public.
  • Choose Publish to the library when other teachers should be able to find and use it.

Publishing and readiness are teacher actions. A connected AI assistant cannot perform either one.

Ready means the project can be used with your classes but is not public. Take it back to Draft for private development, or publish it deliberately when the library version is ready. Select the image to enlarge it.

Ready projects can be used with your classes but are not public library projects. Choose Take back to draft when the project needs private development again, or Publish to the library when the public version is ready.

Editing a published project changes its private draft first. Publish edits updates the existing library project in place; Unpublish returns the live project to Ready. Select the image to enlarge it.

Published projects are library-visible subject to Rectangle’s browse-quality rules. Choose Unpublish to return the project to Ready while keeping it available for your own classroom use.

When a published project has new edits, Publish edits updates the existing project in place. It does not create a second library card.

Rectangle keeps you on the Publish tab with the current state intact. Read the error, confirm the project still meets the structural requirements, and try the action again. Do not repeat-click while a transition is still working.
