Prepare an assignment Draft
A Draft is the private setup version of an assignment. Use it to confirm the class and project, resolve launch blockers, and decide whether the work should begin now or later. Students cannot see a Draft.
Read the Draft overview
Section titled “Read the Draft overview”The top of the assignment identifies the project, class, Draft state, and current schedule. The setup cards lead to the four areas that matter before launch:
- Schedule — assignment start and milestone lengths;
- Teams — participating students and individual/team arrangement;
- Project — this assignment’s milestones, deliverables, rubric, standards, and resources;
- Settings — revision, late-work, and grading rules.
These values belong to this class run. Editing the assignment copy does not change the source project template.
Expand launch readiness
Section titled “Expand launch readiness”Select Show details under Launch readiness.
Rectangle separates three kinds of setup information:
- Blocks launch — fix the named schedule or exact participant-placement problem before staging or starting.
- Needs review — inspect standards matches. This is important, but it does not block launch.
- Deferred — a setup choice that is not required for the mode you chose, such as teams when students will work individually.
Follow the action beside an item to open the area that owns it. Return to Overview after each correction to confirm the readiness count.
Choose Stage or Start
Section titled “Choose Stage or Start”- Select Stage for launch when the assignment should become Active on a future date.
- Select Start project when students should receive access now.
Both actions open a confirmation that explains the visibility change. Dates usually inform the plan; the teacher chooses the state. The exception is a Staged assignment, which starts automatically on the morning of its planned start date.
If you are not ready, leave the assignment as a Draft. Its setup is saved without becoming visible to students.
