Use rubric language while guiding work

Guide exposes rubric criteria as feedback vocabulary without asking you to score while you are guiding the work.

Select a criterion under Looking at to read its level descriptors. Use that language in feedback; Guide does not score the work. Select the image to enlarge it.
  1. Open a submitted-work review.
  2. Find Looking at beneath the submitted pieces.
  3. Select a criterion such as Evidence tells a trustworthy story.
  4. Read the Beginning, Developing, Proficient, and Advanced descriptors.
  5. Quote or adapt the useful language in per-piece or overall feedback.

Only one criterion is expanded at a time. Select it again to close it, or choose another criterion.

The descriptors help name what the work is doing and what could move next. They do not record a proficiency level from Guide. Scoring, grade calculation, and grade release belong in Assess.

This separation lets you use consistent rubric language during a formative conversation without making every review moment a grading moment.
