Navigate Classes and a class home
Every class has one home for its roster, groups, assignments, and settings. Start in Classes, then select a class row to open it.
Find the class you need
Section titled “Find the class you need”The Classes list shows useful context before you enter a class, including its period, student count, active project, and any roster status that needs attention.
When your classes span more than one subject—or mix classes with and without a subject—Rectangle groups the list by subject. A class without a subject appears under No subject yet. When every class has the same subject or none has a subject, the list stays ungrouped.
If you have exactly one active class, Classes may take you directly to that class home. Select All classes to return to the full list. With two or more active classes, Classes opens the list. Classes where you are a co-teacher or assistant count too.
Read the class home
Section titled “Read the class home”The top of the class home shows the class name and its available subject, grade, period, and student-count details. Depending on the class, it can also show a standards-coverage summary and a live join code for an owner or co-teacher to copy.
The four tabs organize the work:
- Roster shows current and former students, student access, join-code controls, and the teaching team.
- Groups holds reusable group sets and standalone groups.
- Assignments shows class work by status and provides the available doors into Assign or Gradebook.
- Settings holds class behavior and lifecycle controls.
Counts beside the tabs help you scan the class before opening a section. The Roster tab can also show an indicator when a roster event needs attention.
Switch classes without returning to the list
Section titled “Switch classes without returning to the list”When you have another active class, select the current class name in the top navigation to open the class switcher. Choose a class to move directly to its home. Archived classes do not appear as regular switch targets; find them by returning to All classes and expanding Archived.
Use the Assignments overview
Section titled “Use the Assignments overview”The Assignments tab separates current, upcoming, draft, completed, and archived work. Its timeline gives a quick term-level view of active, staged, and completed projects.
Select a project name to open its assignment record. Use Open in Assign when that action appears to manage the assignment, or Gradebook to review and grade student work.
If a roster-synced class shows that its roster is stale, an owner or co-teacher can start a sync from the class list. A failed sync leaves the class unchanged and shows an error so you can try again.
