Edit a published project

Editing a published project creates private unpublished changes tied to the same project. Other teachers continue seeing the last published version until you publish the edits.

Editing a published project changes its private draft first. Publish edits updates the existing library project in place; Unpublish returns the live project to Ready. Select the image to enlarge it.

Open your published project from its library or content-management entry and choose its edit action. Rectangle resumes the associated Authoring draft rather than making an unrelated copy.

Make changes across Project, Milestones, Rubric, and Reading View. The Publish tab shows the current published state and the Publish edits action.

Review the quality signals and library preview, then choose Publish edits. The existing project identity and library card remain intact; the new version replaces what other teachers see.

If you retitle the project, read the confirmation carefully. The project’s stable URL identity does not need to change simply because the visible title changes.

Use a variant when the project is becoming different work

Section titled “Use a variant when the project is becoming different work”

An edit is appropriate when you are maintaining the same project. If the new version serves a substantially different context and both versions should remain useful, use the available variant/remix path rather than replacing the original.

Choose Unpublish only when the public project itself should leave the library. Unpublished edits alone do not remove the currently published version.
