Chapter 3 · Lesson 2
Inspect the project before you use it
Check that the project fits the class and exposes the action you need before opening assignment creation.
Before you assign, inspect the project’s driving question, grade range, duration, author, and student purpose. The goal is not a complete curriculum review; it is confidence that this is the project you intend to run with this class.
Check the decision-level facts
Section titled “Check the decision-level facts”Read the overview, the brief students see, the culminating product, and the audience. Use the coverage band as Rectangle-specific context, not as a substitute for reading the project.
Then scan the milestone order, deliverables, time, and milestone standards. Confirm that the class can produce the requested evidence and that the sequence fits the available window.
Use the project’s real assignment doorway when it is available. Remix first only when you need your own editable version.
If the project is close but should become a different reusable design, remix it before assigning. If it already fits, keep the published source unchanged and continue with Assign to a class.
