Assign one project to multiple classes

You can assign one project to as many as twelve active classes in one step. Rectangle creates an independent Draft for each class, so every section can have its own schedule, participants, submissions, and grades.

Choose a project from Assign → New assignment, or open project detail from Find or Library and select Assign to another class.

Choose one or more active classes. Every result begins as a Draft that students cannot see. Select the image to enlarge it.

The class list includes active classes where you are an owner or co-teacher. Select at least one class to continue.

  1. Select every class that should receive the project.
  2. Review the selected-class count.
  3. Set the optional start date if the same date is appropriate for this creation step, or leave it blank to schedule later.
  4. Select the action that creates the assignments.
A multi-class create produces independent Drafts. Each class gets its own schedule, teams, student work, communications, and grades. Select the image to enlarge it.

A three-class selection creates three Draft assignments—not one assignment shared by three rosters. Each Draft receives:

  • the chosen project’s assignment copy;
  • the membership of its class;
  • that class’s starting policy defaults;
  • its own schedule, participant/team setup, submissions, and grade record.

Rectangle opens the first Draft after creation. Return to the Assign shelf to enter the others.

Keep the same project, classes, and start date when retrying an interrupted request. Rectangle is designed to return the original results for the same submission instead of creating duplicates. If the page reports a failure, follow the on-screen recovery before changing the selection.

Students cannot see any of the new assignments until each Draft is staged or started.
