The five Authoring tabs are views of one draft. Use them as a connected workspace rather than as separate setup steps.

Every authoring path opens the same five-tab draft. Use Project for the anchors and audience-facing language, then move into Milestones, Rubric, Reading View, and Publish without creating separate copies. Select the image to enlarge it.
  • Project sets the idea, context, and audience-facing language.
  • Milestones sequences work, deliverables, and content standards.
  • Rubric defines project-wide evidence and practice or habit standards.
  • Reading View assembles what a teacher or student will read.
  • Publish checks the project and controls Draft, Ready, and Published state.

The Project tab also summarizes milestones and rubric work. Use Open Milestones or Open Rubric when the overview shows what needs attention.

Rectangle saves changes continuously. The shell shows when work is saving, saved, offline, failed, or in conflict. Wait for the saved state before closing the page when you have just made an important edit.

Avoid editing the same draft in multiple tabs or browsers. Rectangle can detect a stale save, but concurrent editing forces you to decide which version should win.

You do not need to finish a tab before moving on. Return from My drafts and Rectangle opens the same project state. Reading View and Publish always compose the current saved draft; they are not independent copies.
