Choose how to start a project

Choose the starting point that gives you useful structure without creating work you will immediately undo.

Choose Create from Rectangle's main navigation. Resume current work, preview a Craft Pattern, start blank, or use one of the other authoring paths from this page. Select the image to enlarge it.

Use a Craft Pattern when the learning arc is clear but the topic, audience, or local context is yours. Filter the gallery by subject, grade, or duration, then preview a pattern before adopting it.

Open a pattern to inspect its complete arc before creating anything. Confirm the subject and whether affiliated classroom co-teachers may view the copied draft. Select the image to enlarge it.

The preview shows the arc and the choices made by Rectangle’s editors. Adoption copies that structure into your draft. Your project can then diverge without later changes to the canonical pattern silently rewriting it.

Choose Start blank when you already know the structure or want to build every part directly. You receive the same five-tab workspace with no milestone or rubric structure prefilled.

Open an eligible published project in Find and choose Remix. Rectangle creates or resumes your private adaptation while preserving the source teacher and project; the source also records how many adaptations have been published. Select the image to enlarge it.

Use Remix when a published project is already close to what your students need. Rectangle preserves the source teacher and project, creates or resumes your private adaptation, and asks you to explain meaningful changes before publishing.

Use a connected AI assistant when conversation is the fastest way to shape a complete first draft. The assistant may work only within the Authoring scopes you grant. Its result remains a draft that you inspect in Rectangle before it can become classroom-ready or public.
