Resolve an Authoring edit conflict
Rectangle shows Another session edited this draft when your save was based on an older version than the one already stored. This usually happens when the same draft is open in multiple tabs, browsers, or teacher sessions.
Choose the version intentionally
Section titled “Choose the version intentionally”The conflict dialog offers three recovery paths:
- Reload server version discards your unsaved local changes and loads the newer saved draft.
- Overwrite with my version replaces the newer server version with the draft currently in your tab.
- Save my version as a new draft preserves both by creating a separate draft from your local version.
Use reload when the other session contains the work you want. Use overwrite only when you have confirmed that your local version should replace it. Choose a new draft when both versions may contain valuable work or when you are not certain.
If recovery fails
Section titled “If recovery fails”The dialog remains open when Rectangle cannot create the new draft. Try again, or choose reload or overwrite after checking the other session. Do not refresh the browser before deciding if the unsaved local version is important.
Prevent another conflict
Section titled “Prevent another conflict”Keep one editing tab per project. A second tab is safe for reading only until either tab begins changing the draft. When collaborating with co-teachers, coordinate ownership of the editing session or use read-only draft visibility and preview links for review.
