Invite and manage a class teaching team
The teaching team lets one class include its owner, co-teachers, and assistants. Only the class owner can send, resend, revoke, or remove teaching-team invitations.
Invite a colleague
Section titled “Invite a colleague”- Select Classes and open the class.
- Select Roster.
- Find Teaching team and select Add a co-teacher.
- Enter the colleague’s email address.
- Choose Co-teacher or Assistant.
- Select Send invitation.
A co-teacher can manage the roster, groups, assignments, class details, and class settings. An assistant can view the class, open student records, and grade work, but cannot change the class’s structure or membership.
The invited person appears as pending. Pending invitations are visible only to the class owner; other teaching-team members see accepted members.
Resend or revoke a pending invitation
Section titled “Resend or revoke a pending invitation”Invitations expire after 14 days. An expired invitation stays visible to the owner with an expired status.
Open the pending invitation’s actions menu and choose:
- Resend to issue a fresh link. The previous link stops working.
- Revoke to close the invitation without adding the person.
The pending row confirms that Rectangle created the invitation. If the colleague does not receive the email, use Resend and ask them to check their spam folder.
Invitation links are not locked to the email address entered by the owner. Any eligible teacher account with the link can accept it, so do not forward or post an invitation link.
Remove a teaching-team member
Section titled “Remove a teaching-team member”- Open the accepted member’s actions menu.
- Select Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
Removing a member does not transfer ownership. To change a person’s role, remove them and send a new invitation with the other role.
Teaching-team controls are unavailable while the class is archived. The owner must unarchive the class before inviting, resending, revoking, or removing someone.
If Rectangle declines an invitation, check that the class is active and that the address does not belong to the owner, a student, or someone who is already on the teaching team. If too many invitations were sent in a short period, wait before trying again.
